Millionaire Gives Away Fortune

I just read this article about an Austrian millionaire who is giving away his fortune because it made him unhappy.

“It was the biggest shock in my life, when I realised how horrible, soulless and without feeling the five star lifestyle is,” he said. “In those three weeks, we spent all the money you could possibly spend. But in all that time, we had the feeling we hadn’t met a single real person – that we were all just actors. The staff played the role of being friendly and the guests played the role of being important and nobody was real.”

All the money from the selling of his possessions will to go his microcredit charity where he doesn’t take a salary.

It’s pretty challenging to see a real life example of someone following Jesus’ words to the rich young ruler in Mark 10:21 to, “Go, sell what you have, and give to (the) poor and you will have treasure in heaven.” I just pray he got the last part of Jesus’ words, you know, the whole “come, follow me” thing. I think he’ll really find what he’s looking for there.
